Tender Care Daycare & Preschool

Welcome to Spunky Monkeys

The Toddler Room

Age Range: 1 year – 2.5 years
Lead Teacher: Ms. Courtney
Co – Lead Teacher: Ms. Emalie
Closing Teacher: Ms. Lilly

In order to help your child grow in their development, our class room and materials are arranged to meet the needs of your child. Every child is unique in their own way, so the curriculum is crafted around all learning developments and our daily activities help meet the needs of each child as an individual. We work on daily goals with our toddlers as individuals but also on tasks as a group!

We will have assessments three times a year (typically in February, May, and October) to show progress of your toddler and where they are at in development. These assessments also help create our weekly individual plans for the toddlers to meet their developmental goals. Please reach out at any time with questions or concerns about your child’s progress Our goal for your toddler’s day is to run as smoothly as possible, and make sure you are comfortable with leaving your child in our care. Please reach out at any time with questions or concerns or just to check in about your child during the day!

Procare - the app you download will be our main source of communication about your child's day. We record diaper changes/potties times, nap times, incidents, etc. We also will communicate through messages about your child's day, mood, and any other information! You can find photos of child playing, photos from Party/Fun Days, as well as photos showing learning in the classroom. The calendar section will also carry important dates for our room and the facility and it's a great way to know what's coming up next! Procare is also a great way for you to share information with us or let us know about any changes for your toddler! Have questions about how to use Procare? We would love to go through the app with you and show you all its amazing features so we can keep in communication!

Curriculum - ABC Jesus Loves Me is crafted and thoughtfully pieced together to make learning part of daily activities and play, with the main focus of intentional learning through active play. Each room has a specific curriculum divided into focused activities geared specifically to the age group. It focuses on the learning that occurs during the process and not the end result of the activity. This curriculum also introduces God & Jesus, incorporating Bible verses, songs, and stories. It will hopefully broaden your child's understanding of biblical learning as well as shades, colors, and animals.

  • Each toddler has their own cubby that is labeled, to house binkies, lovies/stuffies, extra cups/bottles, etc. As well as a black magazine holder that you will find paperwork and a ziploc baggie filled with artwork at the end of every month. Also a black bucket placed above their cubbie to house excess weather appropriate clothing/shoes, and weather appropriate gear (i.e. towel, water diapers, blanket, jackets, snow pants
    etc)
  • Daycare appropriate clothing - two piece outfits, shirt and bottoms, with hard bottomed shoes. Please no footie pajamas or one piece outfits, or overalls with no buttons at the bottom. Please no slippers, or shoes that fall off easily.
  • In the toddler room bottles start to get phased out after one month unless directed by a physician with a note from a medical office.
  • Water is always accessible for your toddler at any point during the day. If there is a specific water bottle you would like your toddler to use, please provide it upon your toddler's first day in the room, otherwise one will be provided for them.
  • Parent Info Board - located on the wall next to our door that leads to the small hallway. This board will give an overview of our curriculum focus for the week.
  • Outside Play - we go outside at least twice a day, weather permitting, even in snow and sprinkling rain so please have weather appropriate gear! (Snow pants, boots, thick jacket, and hat for winter play. Swim diapers and swimsuit for summer water play).
  • Our toddlers learn through active play, which means getting dirty. We use all kinds of art mediums, as well as sensory play with different textures, plus we allow for the children to play outside in the grass, dirt, sand, and water. Your toddler will get anything and everything on their clothes! If you don't wish for certain items of clothing to get dirty or possibly damaged, please do not send them to daycare in those outfits.
  • With active play, comes bumps and bruises. Most toddlers coming into our room are either beginner walkers, climbing adventurers, or still working on balance to catch themselves from falling with fast movements. This often leads to trips and falls for your little one. Minor bruises are bound to happen as we encourage movement in our room. However any major falls, or altercations resulting in redness, marks, or large bumps or bruising will be put into Procare under incident report.
  • Incident reports will carry a detailed explanation of what happened, how we cared for your toddler, and usually a picture will be attached showing the result of the incident. We also use incident reports to document any marks we notice after they come in unless you've spoken to us beforehand. This is to help us all know what happened at home, and what happened at daycare.
  • The average amount of diaper changes per toddler is 5. We also change every 2 hours. We will send you a message on Procare when they are becoming low and when to bring more diapers. We will always try to give you at least two nights advance notice, and this will also apply to wipes or anything else your child needs in the room. The smaller the package of diapers brought in, the more often you'll hear from us unfortunately.
  • Our room is often joined by the Busy Bee room, the age range is 2 to 2.5 years old, and is also the potty training room. We are together in the mornings from 6 am to 9 am, and again in the evenings from 4:30 pm to 6 pm.
  • Procare also has a calendar section. Please reference this to look ahead at what may be coming up for our room and facility. Closures, party days, holidays, etc. will always be marked on the calendar as well as details pertaining to the event.
  • Fun Days & Party Days are not a requirement of participation. Each month will bring different fun days, like pj days, football day, pumpkin day, etc. These days are an all day event, we ENCOURAGE dressing up but it is not required. Party Days will most likely coincide with major calendar holidays, like Harvest (halloween), Christmas, Valentines, etc. There will be a treat/food sign up list that will be posted on the outside of our main door for parents to sign up to bring in on the party day date. Again, we ENCOURAGE dressing up in the party theme but it is not a requirement to participate. It is also not a requirement to sign up to bring items. These dates are posted in our calendar on Procare, as well as reminders will go out on Procare until the fun/party day arrives.
