Tender Care Daycare & Preschool

Welcome to our Explorer Class!

We are so excited to have you join our Tender Care Family!

The goal of our Explorer class is Kindergarten readiness, and to have the children leave our care with a boldness to try new things, the desire to uncover more, and the knowledge that even failure is an opportunity to learn.

The classroom is set up in “centers” where children are encouraged to interact and discover on their own, or with friends. Circle Time is our chance to learn as a class about basic educational models such as letters, numbers, and shapes. These concepts are also linked into other areas of learning happening daily. Frequent group projects and experiments are taking place to expand the understanding of the children every week. All topics are open to investigate and lead by the interests of the class. Creative expression and thinking are highly supported in all areas of our class, and we like to share them in our artwork, group projects, and group experiments we display around the classroom.

We promote kindness and communication to our children. The use of words is encouraged to convey a child’s wants and needs to the other children in the class as well as with the teachers. Respect for yourself and others is displayed in how we connect with the children and how we, as teachers, connect with our fellow adults.

Three times a year, usually in February, May, and October, you will get assessments showing the progress of your child and where they are in their development. These assessments also help us develop our weekly curriculum. Please ask if you have any questions about your child’s progress.

To help with the learning environment of our classroom, we ask that toys from home ONLY be brought on FRIDAY. On Fridays children are given the chance to “Show & Tell” about an item from home with the class.

We ask that you bring bedding from home for your child on their first scheduled attendance day each week. Slumber bags are highly encouraged, but any type bedding is fine. On your child’s last scheduled attendance day of each week the bedding will be sent home to be laundered. Please remember to bring bedding BACK the following week.

Our hope is that your child’s day goes as smoothly as possible, and that you are comfortable with leaving your child in our care. Anytime you wish to call and check on your child is highly encouraged! We love creating great relationships with our parents as well as our kids.

If you ever have any questions or concerns, feel free to ask at any time!
