Tender Care Daycare & Preschool

Welcome to our Infant Class!

We are so excited to have you join our Tender Care Family!

In our infant class we update Procare to keep track of your child’s day for example how much your child ate and how much; when and how long they slept; when your child was changed; and any other information important to share!

Procare is also a great way for you to communicate with us. Example: wanting us to change your child more frequently due to a diaper rash, or about letting us know of a change in pick-up time.

We start each day asking about when your child last ate and was changed. This allows us to have a starting point for their day. Our goal is for your child’s day to go as smoothly as possible, and to make sure you are comfortable with leaving your child in our care. Anytime you wish to call and check on your infant is highly encouraged! We love creating great relationships with our parents as well as our kids.
In order to help your child grow in their development, our class room and materials are arranged to meet the needs of your child. Every child is unique in their own way, so we plan our curriculum and daily activities to meet the needs and interest of our class as individuals.

We work on specific child needs and goals daily. Three times a year, usually in February, May, and October, you will get assessments showing the progress of your child and where they are in their development. These assessments also help us develop our weekly curriculum. Please ask if you have any questions about their progress.

If you ever have any questions or concerns, feel free to ask at any time!

Infant Room Policies and Procedures

** A child is moved into the Toddler Room upon his/her 1st Birthday**

  1. Infants need a minimum of 3 bottles, with lids, to stay at daycare. All children are required to have a new,
sanitized bottle for EACH feeding - if your child eats more frequently, more bottles will be needed.
  2. ALL formula, breast milk, and baby food are provided by the parent/guardian for their child. Formula, breast milk, and baby food will be labeled with the child's first and last name OR initials.
  3. A note from the child's doctor will be required if any infant is to be on a limited food/formula intake, diluted formula, Pedialyte, or any other type of elimination (allergy) diet.
  4. NO medication may be added to formula or breast milk.
  5. Any premade formula or breast milk bottles must be labeled with the date, the child's first and last name, and placed in the refrigerator upon arrival. Any unused formula will be sent home, or it must be discarded.
  6. Any bottle not finished by the child will be kept for a maximum of ONE HOUR before all unfinished formula or breast milk is discarded.
  7. All formula containers will be dated at the time of opening. Once open, the formula can stay at the daycare
for 30 days. After 30 days any unused formula will be sent home, or it must be discarded.
  8. Infants will be held when fed their bottles until they are able to hold the bottle themselves, or they can drink from a cup. Bottles will NOT be propped.
  9. Children will not be allowed to walk or crawl around with bottles.
  10. All open baby food will be dated and kept in the refrigerator for 48 hours. After 2 days the unused food will
    be discarded.
  11. Once your child starts table food, the daycare can provide breakfast, lunch, PM snack, and evening snack to your child if you wish - Menus are available on request.

Breast Milk

  1. All breast milk MUST be labeled with the child's first and last name.
  2. All frozen breast milk will be thawed in the refrigerator or under cool, running water. Once
thawed, the breast milk will not be refrozen.
  3. Breast milk will be warmed in the bottle warmer.
  4. All thawed, unused breast milk will be sent home at the end of the day, or it must be discarded -
we can only keep it for 24 hours.
  5. Frozen breast milk may be kept at the daycare for one month.
  6. Fresh, NEVER frozen, breast milk can stay at the daycare for 24 hours.
  7. It is encouraged to portion out the number of ounces you believe your child will eat at one feeding
in each bag of breast milk to eliminate waste.

**For additional breast milk policies, see WAC 110-300-0281 printout in packet**

  1. All infants are changed every hour unless sleeping, as needed for excessive soiling, or otherwise specified by parent/guardian. Caregivers follow the diaper changing policies posted in their room by diaper changing
    area.
  2. Parents/guardians supply ALL diapers and wipes for their children. The average child uses around 5-6 diapers in one day. We do not keep extra diapers here, nor can we "borrow" from another child's supply.
  1. We will allow children under 12 months to follow an individual (sleep on demand) sleep schedule. We are NOT allowed, according to state licensing, to keep infants awake when they want to sleep.
  2. All infants are put to sleep on their backs. Nothing but the child in a sleep sack, their binky (if needed) and a fitted sheet over the mattress is placed in the crib with the sleeping infant.
  3. Infants are not left to sleep in swings or bouncers - children are transferred to their crib.
  4. Binkies must come without accessories - NO stuffed animal attachments OR lanyards may be on the binky
